Phew, I feel like I'm still catching up from the weekend. My mum and I went down to Newcastle, New South Wales to visit my brother who moved there for work recently. Newcastle was pretty cool! One of the highlights was going to Estabar at Newcastle Beach with another Newcastle-based friend. They made one of the best coffees I've had ever and their food was rockin'. We also enjoyed some wine . . .

This month is preserving month (for #CBpreserves!), but in hindsight I think it would have been better to preserve things in March or April when we still had nectarines and mangoes and peaches. The end-of-summer fruit haul is already over. The citrus fruit and persimmons are here, along with apples, pears and pumpkins. The weekend just gone was the best kind of weekend. It involved: my weekly tennis lesson, baking gingersnap brownies and decorated ginger cookies for Socktoberfest, going to Socktoberfest, drinking a lot of home-brewed bocks and eating a lot of pork knuckle and sauerkraut, and being well enough the next day to do some spring cleaning and thanking my past self for freezing some slices of this . . .
